Why is it that we allow ourselves to be controlled by our own desires, addictions, and fears? Why do we conform to the expectations of others, be it a parent, partner, or social norm? And why do we sometimes feel like we’re bound by our own minds, crippled by negative thought patterns and self-doubt?

The concept of being bound often associated with physical restraint, but what does it really mean to be bound? Is it not also a state of being controlled by external forces often without our conscious awareness? Think about it – we may be bound by social media feeds, constantly comparing our lives to others and seeking validation online. We may be bound by our own ego, craving constant recognition and fame, or we may be bound by our own comfort zones, afraid to venture out and take risks.

Multiple masters quarrel and dispute within us, leaving our hearts and minds fragmented. Once you are clear with that answer, you are welcome to continue this further part of this blog! Today, I want to share with you that when we recognize Allah’s sovereignty and mercy, our hearts and souls unite under One. We find refuge in His justice, compassion, and kindness.

Prophet SAW used to say this dua, do you really know what it means?

اللَّهُ رَبِّي وَلَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا

Allah Allah is my Lord. I do not associate anything with Him.

Before going to sleep, Prophet SAW renew his pledge to Allah by reciting this Dua:

O Allah, I have submitted my soul to You, I have turned my face onto You, I have committed my affairs to You and depend on You for protection out of hope in You and out of fear of You (expecting your reward and fearing your punishment). There is no sanctuary and safe haven from You but with You. I believe in the Book You have revealed and in the Prophet You have sent (that is, Muhammad It).

Obsession knows no limits, but worshipping Allah brings liberation. By recognizing His Unity and sovereignty, we shatter the chains of multiple masters. Reflect on your life: Who are your masters that control your life? Seek refuge in Allah and begin your journey to a liberated heart.

Let us seek to know Allah more deeply, and may our hearts and souls be gathered in unity and purpose. Take the first step today! When we know Allah, we find the ultimate refuge and guidance. Let us seek to know Him more deeply, and may our hearts and souls be gathered in unity and purpose.
